The honest head-to-head

FairPost vs Hootsuite

Hootsuite's Professional plan is $99/month. Their Team plan is $249/month. Their Enterprise plan starts around $739/month and goes up from there. FairPost is $0.05 per post. For 99% of the people who land on Hootsuite's pricing page, that difference is enough. This page walks through every feature, every gap, and the two cases where Hootsuite comes out ahead — so you can make the call honestly.

Price, not marketing:

"Professional — $99/month. One user. Ten social accounts."

"Team — $249/month. Three users. Twenty social accounts."

"Enterprise — Custom pricing (starts $739/month)."

  • Templates, approval workflow, and AutoScheduler-equivalent included. Those are Pro+ features on Hootsuite.

Hootsuite wins today
  • More platforms. Pinterest, YouTube, and a few long-tail networks we haven't shipped yet.
  • Larger enterprise footprint. SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA-friendly configurations, and compliance paperwork a big-company procurement team recognizes.
  • Bulk scheduling UI maturity. 15 years of calendar iteration. Ours is good; theirs is more polished.
  • Break-even at enterprise volume. If you publish 20,000+ posts/month and need full enterprise tooling, Hootsuite's bulk pricing math can catch up.

Pricing by monthly volume

Hootsuite's pricing is a floor, not a ceiling. Whether you publish 30 posts or 300, Professional is $99/month. FairPost has no floor — pay exactly for what you publish.

When Hootsuite is the better call

We don't want to win customers who'd be happier somewhere else. Two scenarios where Hootsuite is genuinely the better tool.

Case 1 — You're a Fortune 500 with a procurement team

If your procurement team requires SOC 2 Type II audit reports, HIPAA BAAs, vendor security questionnaires, and a named customer success manager as part of onboarding, Hootsuite has the apparatus for that. We don't yet — we'll sign a DPA and we encrypt everything at rest, but we're not going to pretend we have a 40-page compliance packet ready to go.

Case 2 — You publish 20,000+ posts/month and need bulk features

At the high end, Hootsuite Enterprise's bulk scheduling, competitor analysis, and multi-brand social listening are genuinely mature. Our templates + API cover 80% of those use cases for 10% of the cost — but if the remaining 20% is load-bearing for your workflow, Hootsuite is better.

For everyone else — which, empirically, is almost everyone looking at this page — FairPost's math wins by a factor of 20 or more.

Migrating from Hootsuite

We've done this for our own brands and for a handful of pilot customers. Expect it to take 30 minutes.

01

Connect your social accounts

Reconnect each platform via OAuth on FairPost. Hootsuite's OAuth token stays where it is; they're independent. You can run both tools in parallel while you migrate.

02

Import your scheduled posts

Export your scheduled posts from Hootsuite (CSV from their Publisher view). Import via FairPost's /v1/post/import endpoint or the UI bulk uploader. Scheduled times and platform assignments preserved.

03

Recreate your templates

If you used Hootsuite's AutoScheduler or content categories, map them to FairPost templates. Each template is a one-time setup — source data, schedule, platforms, caption pattern. Takes 5-10 minutes per template.

04

Let Hootsuite cancel at renewal

Hootsuite contracts run monthly or annually. Finish out your current term, then cancel. No dual-billing required — FairPost charges per post, so running both in parallel costs you cents on our side.

05

Turn off the Hootsuite publisher

Once your last Hootsuite-scheduled post publishes and FairPost's queue is humming, disable Hootsuite's publishing (or let it expire). We keep your post history and analytics in FairPost from day one.
